The Mark Salt Challenge

This is a bi-annual event to bring together Cubs from all over the district, performing key tasks and earning points.

The cubs moved from base to base doing challenges, and being marked on teamwork, behaviour and the challenge itself. Challenges included making skeleton macrame key rings, spelling out their cub promise in alphabetty spaghetti, building a bridge out of newspaper and cooking pancakes.

All of the cubs did really well, and there were lots of high scores- so well done to all cubs!

And thank you, of course, to our amazing leaders, without whom these amazing activities wouldn't be possible.

A huge congratulations to the 40th Rochdale (Syke) Cubs who took first place.

Scouts Cooking competition 2026

On the 18th January, Teams from Pennine Scouts took part in the (now) annual cooking competition. The standard was extremely high and everyone enjoyed it.

5th Pennine Scouts enjoy day of joy and learning with Muslim Stars SEND group

A unique scout session was recently held at Neeli Mosque in Rochdale, dedicated to a group for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

Members of the 5th Pennine Scouts group attended the session with the Muslim Stars group for a day filled with joy, learning, and meaningful interactions.

The 5th Pennine Scouts, known for their diverse activities ranging from cooking and hiking to canoeing and team building, took a delightful turn in their routine to engage with the Muslim Stars.
